lyrics

as a kid i use to climb up my ladder sure to find
my place of peace and happiness
in the clouds I'd find my rest
and so it makes no difference
as long as your climbing up that ladder
when you're climbing you may fall
climbing matters first of all
and words or rocks may peg you off
make sure your grip is tough enough
when you're climbing and you fear
those lashing tongues so insincere

what should I do?
who should I be?
sometimes it gets to hard to see

so this journey and exodus
might mean leaving the rest of us
and they make mock you and make up lies
and bend the truth from others eyes
but it makes no difference as long
as your climbing up that ladder
so farewell my phantom friend
I hope we never meet again
and if we do I think you'll find
I look the same but I changed my mind

what should I do
who should I be
invisible hands grab ahold of me
I'm stuck behind this enormous tree

so come along if you can
on the ladder I'll grab your hand
terrible feelings they'll never last
in patient silence this too shall pass
